The Institutes for Journalism & Natural Resources' welcomes applications by May 11th for this four-day, expenses-paid journey (June 13-16, 2012) exploring parts of the Maumee River watershed, from the headwaters near Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the river's mouth in Toledo, Ohio, on the southwestern shore of Lake Erie.

Finding the Needle in the Data Haystack: The Implications of a Data-Driven Built Environment

Within the green building industry, there is an increasing focus on policy, standards, and interoperability of building data.  Our intent is to look at the potential data pool for the entire industry. The first event in this effort is this 2-hour discussion at the NY Academy of Sciences, which will outline the state of the industry and explore both the move towards data analytics and the current state of data utilization in the real estate industry. A full-day conference on Data Analytics in the Built Environment will be held April 30th.

DEADLINE: Heinrich Böll Foundation's Transatlantic Media Fellowships

The fellowships support journalists in researching stories in the EU. It has a strong focus on recruiting journalists with diverse backgrounds who might not otherwise have the opportunity to do international reporting. Deepen your understanding of environmental science and policy, and enhance your journalism skills at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Open to U.S. journalists (reporters, editors, producers and freelancers) working in print or broadcast with a minimum of five years' full-time experience. Prior experience covering the environment is not necessary. $80,000 stipend. Deadline is Mar 1 annually.
