An additional fellowship within the Alicia Patterson Foundation annual journalism fellowships is being offered in 2015. This new fellowship is specifically for science and environmental journalism and is endowed through a gift by the Cissy Patterson Foundation. $40,000 stipend. Apply by Oct 1.

The GroundTruth Project seeks reporting fellows and editors from around the world to lead a multimedia reporting project over the next three years that will track the impact of global warming. The journey begins in France covering 2015 Paris Climate Conference in December. Apply by Sep 22.

As policy discussions heat up in advance of the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference in December, journalists are invited to apply for a free seminar exploring U.S. responses to coastal climate change impacts. This Metcalf Institute seminar will be held in Cambridge, MA on Nov 4, at the 2015 Rising Seas Summit.

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources will take journalists to Maryland, Sep 15-20, 2015, to explore threats to the Chesapeake Bay region, including nonpoint source pollution, depleted fisheries, and a population that grows by 100,000 residents each year. Apply by Aug 12.

The Climate Change Media Partnership, led by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network, offers fellowship opportunities for journalists to attend the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change in Paris this December. Apply by July 31.

COMPASS is hosting travel fellowships for journalists to attend the 21st Biennial Society for Marine Mammalogy Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals in San Francisco this December. Apply by Sep 11.

ProPublica is offering stipends to five minority students who work or want to work at college journalism outlets – newspapers, websites, radio stations or TV stations. Receive $4,500 per semester, plus mentoring. Apply by Sep 3, 2024.

The International Reporting Project (IRP) invites applications for an expenses-paid group reporting trip on health and development issues in Ecuador on October 18-29, 2015. Apply by Aug 7.

This free specialized reporting institute, Nov 12-13, 2015 in Gainsville, Florida (from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation), is designed for any journalist or weather broadcaster reporting on water issues and the impact of climate change. Apply by Sep 1.
