Urban Agriculture Summit

Urban agriculture is becoming an essential element of food security, improving access to healthy, affordable food in a rapidly urbanizing world, generating much-needed skills development and local employment, and improving local environmental and community health. The first Urban Agriculture Summit in Toronto, Canada, presented by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and FoodShare, will be action-oriented.

SEJ Member Spotlight: Silver Donald Cameron

Congratulations to Canadian SEJ member Silver Donald Cameron, host and executive producer of The Green Interview, who was appointed last week to the Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian honor, for his work as a "journalist, writer, educator and community activist." Cameron has been a columnist, an educator at several universities, and written plays, radio and TV scripts, innumerable magazine articles, and 17 books.

USFWS Wind Energy Guidelines Implementation Workshop

This interactive workshop in Washington DC, co-sponsored by the Environmental Law Institute, Hogan Lovells LLP, and Defenders of Wildlife, will provide an overview of the recently published final FWS Onshore Wind Guidelines. Open to the public but registration is required by June 22nd.

Jacob Park, associate professor of Business Strategy and Sustainability at Green Mountain College in Vermont, researches the complex relationship between business and global environmental issues. He writes for the "Sustainable Planet" column of OurWorld 2.0, published by the UN University in Tokyo. Jacob welcomes questions and comments from the SEJ community on his multi-year project exploring social and environmental innovation and entrepreneurship in emerging economies.
