ICCA Territories of Life: 2021 Report

The ICCA Consortium launches its 2021 report on territories of life on May 20, highlighting local and national case studies, including global analysis of how much of the planet is likely conserved by Indigenous peoples and local communities. Journalists are invited to the May 12 pre-launch press conference.

Launched in March 2021, this Grist-supported network is for journalists of color who cover environmental issues, or aspire to. Open to journalists and students of all races, ethnicities and backgrounds, but with a primary directive to grow the careers of journalists of color and to expand diversity in newsrooms, especially those covering communities disproportionately affected by the climate emergency.

SEJ Calls on DOJ To Expand Investigation of Minneapolis Police Department

April 22, 2021 — Today, SEJ wrote a letter to Attorney General of the United States Merrick B. Garland calling on the Department of Justice to expand its investigation of the Minneapolis Police Department to include violations of civil rights and of the First Amendment stemming from police targeting journalists in Brooklyn Center and anywhere else in Minnesota that occurred during the recent protests.
