The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources invites journalists on an expenses-paid learning expedition to Louisiana and Texas, March 15-21, 2020, to explore a host of issues impacting ecological, economic and cultural systems in the Gulf. Apply by Jan 24.

This newly created two-year position will be part of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute’s Editorial Team and will also work with the Video Lab and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA) video and social media teams. Apply by February 3, 2020.

New America invests in thinkers with big, bold ideas that have an impact and spark new conversations about the most pressing issues of our day. $15k-$30k stipend provided for Sep 1-Aug 31 fellowship. Stay in your current job, coming together for two cohort gatherings during the fellowship year. Apply by Feb 1, 2024.

This yearlong fellowship is for a journalist living in and reporting on a rural community in Northern California, Oregon, Washington or Alaska. $25,000 stipend plus expenses. Journalists who identify as Black, Indigenous and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply by the Dec 15, 2019 deadline.

The South Asian Journalists Association's fellowships program encourages in-depth coverage of South Asia or the South Asian Diasapora by providing grants of $2,000-$5,000 to cover a portion of reporting expenses. Deadline: Mar 29, 2020 (Spring/Summer).

Mongabay and Global Forest Watch offer an online training at 10:00 a.m. ET to demonstrate how journalists can use GFW tools to add evidence to news articles, and more. Free registration required.

In this free National Press Foundation webinar (1:00-2:00 p.m. EST), we will help journalists understand clean energy and climate change and the resources you’ll need to cover these issues in an election year. Topics to be covered include global trends and challenges, fuel diversity, and government incentives and pressures.
