On April 19 the Supreme Court will hear arguments to decide whether states and private parties can sue power companies under federal common law for contributing to global warming and compel them to cap CO2 emissions. This panel, hosted by Environmental Law Institute, will discuss and debate the major issues at play and the likely outcome of the case.

The Radiation Studies Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will sponsor a national conference on public health preparedness for radiation emergencies.

 This session, part of the Environmental Law Institute's 2011 Ocean Seminar Series, experts will discuss some of the key issues and possible solutions related to NOAA's new policy encouraging adoption of catch share systems nationwide.

The theme of the 2011 AESS Conference, hosted by the University of Vermont in Burlington, is "Confronting Complexity."

This seminar, presented by the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program in collaboration with the Society of Toxicology, features an overview of the latest research in the science of toxicology, the study of the adverse effects of chemical, biological, and physical substances on people, animals, and the environment.
