"Pipelines: Texas Looks To Pass ALEC-Backed Protest Bill"

"Texas lawmakers appeared poised to pass a bill that will impose hefty prison sentences on protesters who damage pipelines and other "critical infrastructure."

If the Republican-controlled state Senate approves H.B. 3557 and it's signed by Gov. Greg Abbott (R), Texas would be the fifth state to pass a version of the law.

Oklahoma, Louisiana, and North and South Dakota have adopted similar measures, at the urging of the oil industry and the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council."
