DEADLINE: AAJA Journalism Excellence Awards

The Asian American Journalists Association is accepting nominations for the 2024 Journalism Excellence Awards until Jan 22.  Established in 1987, the awards recognize and encourage excellence among journalists and outstanding coverage of Asian American and Pacific Islander issues.

DEADLINE: Fund for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) Grants

FIJ awards grants up to $10,000 for stories that break new ground and expose wrongdoing in the public and private sectors. Next deadline is Apr 29/24. Plus, seed grants (May 10), expedited grants for urgent stories, follow-up grants for timely stories after initial investigations and emergency grants for stories on threats to democracy in the U.S (rolling).

The East-West Center’s 2023 Exchange takes place Sep 12-22 with the theme “US-South Korea: New Closeness, New Strains, New Global Tensions.” Open to US and Korean print, broadcast, and online journalists with a minimum of five years of experience. Apply by May 23.

The James Aronson Awards annually honor original, written reporting that brings to light widespread injustices, their human consequences, underlying causes, and possible reforms. The Awards also include a companion Cartooning with a Conscience award. Deadline is Mar 18, 2019.
