DC-area Happy Hour for SEJers, DC Science Writers, and Friends

Meet people and have fun on the rooftop of a comfortable and informal rooftop bar (with its own roof in case of rain). All welcome: SEJ members, science and environmental journalists, and those interested in meeting them, their partners and pals. This event is co-hosted by the esteemed DC Science Writers Association (DCSWA, pronounced "Duck-Schwa.") Eat, drink, be merry, meet colleagues and sources, conspire, circulate rumors, or complain about your editor.

Happy hour begins Wednesday, June 18, at 6:30 pm. Happy hour pricing runs until 9 pm.

If you're anything like me, Earth Day and its requisite flood of terrible pitch emails makes you want a drink. So we're holding another happy hour for SEJ members and friends in DC next Tuesday, April 22. We'll be upstairs on the deck (which has a tarp and heaters, in case the weather fails us). Five-dollar happy hour specials til the end!

Freelance Pitch Slam & Meet-Up

Got an idea for an environment-related story or a book proposal? SEJ and Capital Public Radio offer you the opportunity (Apr 11, 2014, 5-7 p.m., in Sacramento) to get some feedback on your ideas and meet up with fellow SEJ members. You’ll have two minutes to pitch stories to a panel of news and magazine editors and three minutes to pitch book ideas to a publisher’s representative. Open to all.
