These awards are granted for the best political cartoons reflecting the spirit and the principles of the United Nations. Open to political cartoons printed in any publication published anywhere, in any language. First Prize: $10,000.00; Second Prize: 5,000.00; Third Prize: 3,000.00. Enter by Nov 15, 2017.

The South Asian Journalists Association annually recognize excellence in coverage of South Asia and the diaspora, as well as outstanding reporting by South Asian journalists and students in the U.S. and Canada. Enter by Aug 26, 2023.

The Kurt Schork Memorial Fund and Reuters annually award three $5,000 prizes: to a local reporter in a developing nation or country in transition, a freelancer covering international news and a news fixer, to recognize courageous reporting of conflict, corruption, human rights transgressions and injustice. The Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute of New York University offers annually The Reporting Award, a grant to support a significant work of journalism in any medium on an under-reported topic in the public interest. Deadline: Mar 18, 2024.

The Alexia Foundation awards production grants to professional and student photographers to give them the financial ability to produce substantial stories that drive change in the effort to make the world a better place. Students also get scholarship opportunities. Deadline is Feb 19, 2024.

The Southern Environmental Law Center invites submissions until Oct 1, 2023 for its annual award, which seeks to enhance public awareness of the value and vulnerability of the natural environment in at least one of these states: Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia. In 750 words, describe how you or someone in your community is making meaningful strides to lessen modern Western society's impact on the environment. The contest is open to students between the ages of 17 and 24 (as of January 1, 2013) who are currently enrolled in a college or other institute of higher education. Entry deadline: Nov 27, 2013.

Presented for best print, broadcast and online media coverage of the UN, its agencies and field operations, the Awards are open to all journalists, anywhere in the world, for the best book, story, radio or TV program or series. The prizes amount to over $60,000. Deadline is Sep 30, 2022.

The Award is given by the New York Public Library to the author(s) of outstanding, full-length books resulting from print, broadcast, or electronic journalism that impacts public consciousness and policy around an important current issue. Winner receives a $15,000 prize. Nomination deadline is Sep 1, 2023.
