The Asia Society's annual "Oz Prize" of $10,000 is awarded to a reporter or team of reporters who has produced the best example of journalism about Asia during the calendar year. Evaluation criteria include impact of the work, its originality, creativity, depth of research and educational value in informing the public about Asia. Deadline: Mar 17, 2025.

The European Commission rewards outstanding reporting on sustainable development. 2024 entries should relate to topics of inequality, poverty eradication, sustainable development, environment, biodiversity, climate action and more. Cash prizes of €10,000 in each of three categories. Enter by Jun 30.

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources is accepting proposals until Feb 28, 2026 for grants to help defray the costs of reporting projects that focus on natural resources, the environment, energy, development, agriculture, environmental justice and public health. 

Metcalf Institute's 2026 Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists at the University of Rhode Island, Jun 21-26, is for full-time journalists to explore how plastics are produced, used, and discarded — and how their breakdown contributes to widespread environmental contamination. Apply by Feb 23.

NAHJ 2025 will take place in Chicago, Illinois, offering career development opportunities with leading Hispanic journalists and media professionals, and featuring workshops and panels that provide essential tools for career growth in a rapidly evolving industry.

The journal Science offers an 11-week, paid summer internship for undergraduate students who are interested in journalism as a career and who want to learn about science writing. The internship is intended to increase diversity among journalists who cover science. Deadline: Jan 10, 2025.

The Radio Television Digital News Association offers scholarships for outstanding students and fellowships for young professionals (<10 years experience in the field) pursuing careers in radio, television, or online news. Two fellowships are given to promising minority applicants. Deadline: Nov 14, 2025.

The Asian American Journalists Association is accepting nominations for the 2025 Journalism Excellence Awards until Feb 12.  Established in 1987, the awards recognize and encourage excellence among journalists and outstanding coverage of Asian American and Pacific Islander issues by AAJA members.

The Fund for Investigative Journalism is accepting applications for regular grants (up to $10,000 for full investigative stories) and seed grants for early reporting (up to $2,500). Proposals for both types of grants are due on April 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
