Federal FOIA Mediator Launches Web Site

November 4, 2009

The long-awaited federal FOIA mediator has launched a Web site and is open for business.

The Office of Government Information Services is located within the National Archives. Congress created it in 2008 to serve as an overseer of federal FOIA activities and help mediate disputes between information requesters and federal agencies.

OGIS' resource page gathers useful links from both government and non-government organizations.

For example, one helpful reference they cite is from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF): the "Bloggers' Legal Guide," which covers the FOIA rights of bloggers.
