"WASHINGTON — The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is proud to announce that Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP) has joined the ACS Publications portfolio. EHP is a globally respected journal with a legacy as a premier source for research findings at the intersection of the environment and human health.
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (of the National Institutes of Health) established the journal in 1972 and has since developed it into a leading publication for the environmental health sciences community. In 2025, NIH elected to donate the journal to a non-governmental publisher through the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program. ACS, as a federally chartered nonprofit organization and eligible donee under the Program, acted quickly to develop a plan to safeguard the future of the journal. EHP was formally transferred to ACS at the close of 2025.
“I am thrilled to see EHP find a new home as an ACS journal, ensuring that this vital work will continue to reach the global scientific community,” says EHP Editor-in-Chief Joel Kaufman. “EHP has a rich legacy and is held in special regard by the community of environmental health scholars. I look forward to working with ACS Publications to build a rich future as well, benefiting from ACS' publishing expertise and shared commitment to advancing science for the benefit of humanity.”
As an enduring nonprofit scholarly society with a large portfolio of leading scientific journals, ACS is pleased to have the opportunity to uphold this foundational journal’s integrity and deepen ACS’ continued service to the scientific community."
