Meet SEJ member Alix Underwood! Alix is the managing editor for the Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy (CASSE), based in Arlington, Va. She contributes articles regularly to the Steady State Herald, CASSE’s weekly blog with journalistic depth. Alix’s work covers a spectrum of timely topics related to limits to growth, with emphasis on international equity and justice and the trophic theory of money, which provides a theoretical foundation for the stance that economic growth cannot be “decoupled” from ecological impact. She is passionate about using facts to illuminate linkages between overconsumption and resource inequity. Alix draws on an educational background in environmental biology and a professional background in international development. She also manages the Steady State Herald, edits staff and guest content, and contributes to Steady State Press book publications.

When asked if she recommends SEJ membership for her colleagues, Alix said, "I would recommend SEJ to any colleague looking for a community doing similar work, facing the same challenges and offering wisdom and resources for overcoming those challenges to produce high-quality, high-impact journalism."
