The University of Montana - Missoula has provided funds to help defray conference costs for five Montana journalists. The fellowship will cover registration costs (not including Wednesday workshops) plus a $100 travel stipend.
Only SEJ members can apply, so first, apply for membership in SEJ. Membership is open to journalists, professors and students, and your first year is only $20.
Before you apply for SEJ membership, please register on the sej.org site. SEJ staff will activate your user profile 8am-4pm Eastern time, M-F. Once your profile is activated, you'll be able to access the online membership application form.

The profile you complete when you register on the sej.org site will become your member profile if you are accepted for membership.

Write a cover letter containing the following:
- Reasons why it is important for you to attend this conference
- Links to stories you've published or aired in 2010
- A list of media outlets that have published or aired your work in 2010
- A brief biography
You can include one supporting item such as a letter of recommendation, a community response to a story, etc.
You can upload files in the following formats: doc (not docx), pdf, excel, mp3. Video files cannot be uploaded. For videos, please supply a link in your cover letter.
