Webinar: EPIC, CNT & WE ACT — CEJST Walkthrough

Join EPIC, Center for Neighborhood Technology and WE ACT on March 14, 2023 @ 12pm PST/3pm EST for a deep dive on the latest White House tool — Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST) — to address climate and economic justice. In this meeting, we will share insights on changes to CEJST that can advance Justice 40 goals and prioritize burdened communities.

The Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST) is a small map with big implications. CEJST identifies disadvantaged census tracts for prioritizing federal funding and informing Justice40, which aims to send “40 percent of the overall benefits of certain Federal investments… [to] disadvantaged communities that are marginalized, underserved, and overburdened by pollution”. In late 2022, CEJST released a version 1 after a beta release in early 2022.

In this webinar, the Environmental Policy Innovation Center, Center for Neighborhood Technology & WE ACT for Environmental Justice will characterize disadvantaged communities in the current edition of CEJST, and share recommendations on where additional datasets and adjustment to the CEJST methods could be helpful in advancing Justice 40.
