DEADLINE: NPPA Best of Photojournalism Awards

For nearly 80 years, the National Press Photographers Association has honored the most impactful visual journalism of the year with their annual Best of Photojournalism awards. The National Press Photographers Association is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 2026 Best of Photojournalism competition.

The Best of Photojournalism competition continues its long tradition of recognizing excellence in visual journalism. This year introduces an important update: a new combined Video Photojournalism and Editing division, created after extensive analysis of past entries and conversations with entrants. This division is designed to better reflect current industry practice and to honor visual journalists whose video storytelling serves their communities with clarity, strength, and journalistic rigor. 

Additionally, due to the suspension of the 2025 Video Photojournalism and Video Editing categories, the 2026 competition will feature a two-year eligibility window. Work produced or initially published between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, will be eligible for entry. 

Entries close at 11:59 p.m. PT on Jan. 18, 2026.
Entry is free for NPPA members.
