This National Public Radio fellowship is a yearlong program designed to identify and develop the next generation of extraordinary public media journalists. Fellows receive a stipend of more than $50,000 and benefits, including paid vacation. Deadline: Nov 15 annually.

Join the National Press Foundation for an all-expenses-paid fellowship for 20 U.S. and Canadian journalists to look at the economic, climate and conservation issues posed by biomass. The training will be held Oct 10-13, 2021 in North Carolina (or online if pandemic worsens). The deadline to apply is Sep 6.

Media in Color is taking applications until July 24, 2021 for the FREE Creators Lab, a 90-day remote program that will guide journalists and community members in launching and sustaining projects aimed at filling the news and information gap for one of California’s underserved communities of color. Starts Sep 9.

Freelance journalists and staff reporters: The Climate Social Science Network at Brown University is accepting applications until June 30 for an in-residence journalist at the Institute at Brown for Environment and Society (IBES) for fall 2021 or winter 2022. Includes stipend.

This twice-yearly virtual program on entrepreneurship and innovation for young journalists in Latin America is accepting applications until Jun 25 for the 15-week Fall 2021 program. Fellows receive ICFJ-led virtual orientation, professional virtual newsroom attachments, professional mentoring and a $1,700 grant for their digital project.

Religion News Service (RNS) and IFYC invite recent graduates to apply by Jun 30 for the 2021-22 Religion Journalism Fellowship. The fellowship targets the intersection of religion and racial justice, where untold numbers of strong environmental stories await. $4,000 stipend, mentorship and more.

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources virtual workshop, Jul 7-8, 2021, will focus on the ocean and climate in the NE US. Designed to help journalists explore ocean issues that are underreported in popular media. Apply by June 21.

This remote KSJ program offers a range of support to working U.S. journalists for independently conceived projects. Fellowships will be awarded for varying durations over the course of the academic year, beginning in Sep 2021 and ending in May 2022. Deadline is Jun 6.
