The Planet Forward Frontline Climate Fellowship, June 10-July 19, is seeking six unique, highly diverse college students to report environmental stories from, by and about underserved communities on the front lines of climate change and environmental inequity. This fellowship will bring a group of journalists to NYU Stern’s Greenwich Village campus, Sep 19-29, 2024, to learn from globally recognized experts in the emerging field of climate economics. Open to new and experienced journalists worldwide. Includes stipend and meals. Apply by May 31.

These four-month nonresident fellowships support freelance or staff journalists associated with U.S. local/regional newsrooms in developing a high-impact news project that connects local perspectives, values and priorities with climate change science and solutions. The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources invites applications for a weeklong Institute on both sides of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon, May 5-11, to prepare journalists to cover the intensifying wildfire issue with a deeper understanding of its complexities and nuances. Apply by Mar 27.

The International Center for Journalists, News Corp and The Wall Street Journal are offering English-speaking journalists from around the world an opportunity to sharpen their digital journalism skills, as well as support to develop data- and/or digitally-driven projects. Apply by Mar 24, 2024.

The Solutions Journalism Network is building a cohort of U.S.-based, rural-serving newsrooms to receive six months of training and mentorship that supports the integration of solutions journalism into the newsroom workflow. Apply by Mar 29, 2024. Join an info session on Mar 7. 

Each Thursday in March, International Center for Journalists hosts 2-hour virtual training sessions for participants in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Participants who attend at least three of the four sessions will be eligible to apply for grants and mentorship.

The Pulitzer Center’s reporting and engagement lab seeks newsroom partners. The part-time, yearlong Fellowship emphasizes topics of health, science misinformation, marine fisheries and human rights, and provides up to $30,000 towards your reporting project. Deadline: Mar 3, 2024.

Knight Science Journalism at MIT announces a new one-semester fellowship, Aug 15-Dec 31, 2024, with a $40,000 stipend, insurance and housing stipend. Open to journalists from the region with at least three years of experience in covering science, health and the environment. Apply by Mar 1.
